Long Game Framework - a methodology for creating the future
I’ve always been able to create the future I imagine.
When I do this, people often ask me how I “manifest” my ideas. They ask me what daily affirmations I use and how I make plans. They also tell me I must be lucky. Life is lucky so I’m lucky to be alive but the way I create the future isn’t based on luck. It’s based on a framework I visualize in my mind. I’m explaining it here as part of Project Honeylight. This blog will describe the design of a business system using the Long Game Framework.
A World Building Engine
Creating the future requires conceptualizing the components of a future system. These components include:
Rules: Define the things that are important, the way decisions are made, and meeting structures for sharing information.
Vision: A clear understanding of the future state.
Outcomes: The outcomes that will be created in this new world.
Strategy: The cross-functional relationships between all of the components in the system and the projects that will create the outcomes.
People: Identify the roles of the people who can help create the future and their specific job functions.
Plan: Organize the strategy and people into a plan for each project.
Progress: Define how progress will be tracked to ensure the plan is on schedule and on budget.
Learning: For each phase in the plan, define what lessons will be learned and how the lessons will be used to improve future versions.
Proof: Define how proof will be delivered for each phase.
The following blog posts describe each component of the framework and provide examples for each step.
The first step in creating the future is to define the rules.
